It is with great honor that I serve Junior League of Elizabeth Plainfield (JLEP) as President in the 2021-2022 League year. JLEP has played such a pivotal role in not only my growth as a volunteer but also a person. I am excited to be continuing the work of creating positive impact in our community using the unique power of talented and driven women working together with each and every you.
As we continue to adjust to new normal, I am continually amazed by our board and our members to adapt to the ever-changing environment and ensure that we continue to not only support each other but also the community. I am in complete awe in how members have stepped up in ways unimaginable. Our Career Closet team has adapted so well and continue to serve clients with personally shopped curated clothing boxes. The Jumble Store has been able to remain open and continue to take donations but also provide the community with an affordable shopping alternative. We continue to engage our members with opportunities to serve, whether it be Angel Tree, Mobile Meals on Wheels or a Diaper Drive. Our membership team has continued to welcome new women to learn more about us and join our League.
It is also not lost on me that this League year also marks a pivotal first in our league history as I am the the first African-American to serve as president. I am proud to represent the commitment to diversity and inclusion that is central to our mission of promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.
JLEP welcomes all women who value our mission. Please click on our Membership page to learn more. You may also consider making a philanthropic investment in the Junior League of Elizabeth Plainfield by supporting our Annual Fund or Giving Tuesday, a global day of charitable giving at the start of the holiday season.
It is truly a privilege to stand with such a dynamic and accomplished community of women. If you would like to connect and learn more about the Junior League, please reach out to me at president@jlepnj.org to share more with you about our mission and how you can become involved.
With gratitude,
Kalshelia Lloyd
